Donations to Wikipedia: Where does the money go?

Every year, Jimmy Wales asks for millions of dollars in financial contributions from visitors to the Wikipedia website. Apparently, it would seem that the vast majority of Wikipedia’s donors are largely ignorant regarding its real purposes and the fact that it is essentially controlled by special interest groups.

As we show on Wiki-Rath, the reality is that there are a wide variety of reasons why you shouldn’t donate money to Wikipedia. But don’t just take our word for it. If you’re interested to learn more, there’s an article from the website that you should definitely read.

Then, after reading the article, contrast what you learned there with Wikipedia’s description of itself, in its latest fundraising drive, as “a small non-profit” organization:

The bottom line: If you don’t really know where the money goes, don’t donate.
